Kathryn DeBoer Ipsen
Artist
I've spent the past 8 years living and travelling the USA with my husband and daughter, and as much as we loved "The South" and the people were wonderful, we are now settled well and truly back into the Australian Lifestyle and there really is no place like home!
I have recently moved to the other side of the lake at Bolton Point. Waking up to views of the lake every day makes it a very special place and one that I draw much inspiration from when painting and creating my pieces.
I have now been teaching and painting for over 25 years and it just keeps getting better. Over these years I have taught classes from home, owned a studio space/gallery/antique store "The Giggly Grape" in the Hunter Valley, set up a gorgeous studio in Wilmington, North Carolina, hosted stalls from Iandra Castle in Young NSW, and continued to run workshops from various locations in Australia, New Zealand and the USA.
I recently completed twelve month study with Jacqueline Coates and taking my art technique to a whole new level. Jacqueline is an incredibly successful and talented artist from South Australia.
I have also launched into selling my work professionally and have been selling my work online with www.Bluethumbonline gallery.
I will continue to teach my own style of painting - specializing in floral, beach and water themes with classes and weekend workshops from home.
My favorite style of painting is in Acrylics, using very large canvas boards or rolled canvas, I also like to paint murals and on wooden doors, they are the perfect shape and size for behind a bed or lounge.
I also teach Serviette Art which is similar to Decoupage, while using lot's of different items to recycle and glam up. Such as silver teapots, trays, vases and more.
I will be the featured Artist at a lovely Gallery in Lemontree Passage for the month of August.
The gallery is called TAG ...Tilligerry Art Gallery and is in the old Fire Station building.
